John is an entrepreneur, keeping close watch on government news releases and market trends.

With over 40 years’ experience providing audit, accounting, and income tax services to a wide range of clients, you can be assured that John’s leadership touches every client that comes through our door.  In addition to his own ventures, John was a Business and Industry delegate at the Alberta Growth Summit and has sat on the Board of Directors and the Audit Committees of a number of significant public companies. He also sits on the Board of two Venture Capital Companies based in Edmonton.

Quentin is a big man with a big heart.  He has a soft spot for entrepreneurs, and he loves it when his clients remark ‘you aren’t a typical accountant’.  He is relentlessly focused on helping his clients achieve their goals.  When he is not in the office (which is rare), you can find him spending time with his kids, playing golf (poorly he says), or traveling to see Dave Matthews Band.  Quentin has over 20 years experience in public practice with the hairline to prove it.  He has honed is ability to keep an eye on the forest and not the weeds, and keeps his clients’ best interests in mind in everything he does.  Pro Tip:  If you’re looking to get on his good side, his weaknesses are scotch and cigars.

A frustrated Oilers fan waiting for the next big season! Shawn has a strong background providing accounting, tax and business advisory services to a wide range of businesses, individuals and organizations. Meetings with Shawn will leave you with a feeling of comprehension as he wants to make sure you understand what is being presented. He creates an environment where you feel comfortable asking the questions you need to. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors for Crimestoppers Association of Edmonton & Northern Alberta as President. Crimestoppers is an organization that he has been involved with for over 5 years. Along with being a hopeful Oilers fan and avid music lover, Shawn is a devoted husband to his wife Leah, and father to two beautiful girls, Keira & Ella. Pro tip: If you want to get on his good side, play some Dave Matthews Band & show up with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Tyson’s unique sense of humour and style set this man apart from all the rest. He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction from the University of Alberta in 2007, his CA designation in 2010 and joined our firm in 2012. Tyson is constantly on the quest for further education, spending his lunch breaks studying to upgrade his skill-set. He is actively involved in the Canada Revenue Agency Community Volunteer Income Tax Program and provides tax preparation services to low income senior citizens and new Canadian residents. On top of that, he is one the board for ELVES Special Needs Society here in Edmonton.

We’re not sure where he finds the energy for these commitments as well as his dedication to his young family, classy bow-tie collection and his passion for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis.

As the Chief Operating Officer of the HGA Group, Rachel is responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring the company’s strategic goals are met. With over 18 years of experience in professional services firms, Rachel brings a wealth of knowledge in scaling businesses, optimizing processes, and leading cross-functional teams to success.

Throughout her career, Rachel has been responsible for spearheading many transformative initiatives and plays a pivotal role in shaping HGA’s success. She is known for her instrumental ability to translate strategy into execution, fostering a culture of innovation, enhancing operational processes, and building strong relationships. Whatever Rachel is faced with, she has consistently delivered results that align with the company’s mission of “Building Better Tomorrows” and enriching the lives of those around her while ensuring HGA Group is a leader in its field and a great place to work for our people.

Outside of the office, Rachel loves spending time with her family and friends. She is a devoted wife and mother who gracefully juggles the demands of her career and a busy household. Rachel is always up for an adventure and is a passionate traveler who loves introducing her family to new experiences, often planning trips that create cherished memories. At home, she is deeply committed to spending quality time with her loved ones, from cooking family meals and cheering on her kids at their sports events to enjoying simple, cozy evenings together.

Known for her resilience, leadership, positive outlook, and warm sense of humor, Rachel blends her professional ambitions with her personal values, bringing energy and empathy to every aspect of her life. She is a true role model, showing that with passion and dedication, it’s possible to thrive both in her professional career and as a devoted mom and adventurer at heart.

Alex Lee, CPA, CA is the Director of Integrated Financial Services at HGA CPA, where he partners with leadership teams to turn financial information into confident, forward-looking decisions. He approaches the CFO role as it should be practiced: not simply explaining what happened, but helping organizations decide what to do next by connecting financial reality to operations and strategy.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and began his career articling with a respected local accounting firm before earning his Chartered Accountant designation in 2010. He brings a distinct perspective to small and medium-sized businesses, regulatory organizations, and not-for-profit entities, particularly those navigating complexity, growth, or change.

Alex brings a thoughtful perspective to the role of analysis within organizations. While strong data retrieval is essential, he places greater emphasis on interpretation—asking the right questions and translating financial information into practical insight leaders can rely on.

Proudly based in Edmonton, Alex values the city and its community and is an unapologetic Edmonton Oilers fan. Outside of work, he is a proud father of two young children and values time spent with his family. He values clear thinking, honest dialogue, and practical solutions that support better decisions.

Donna has a strong background in the three A’s of public practice – accounting, audit and assurance for a diverse group of clients.  She is a problem solver and looks for solutions that work for her clients.  Like the rest of our team here, she is committed to building and maintaining strong client relationships to ensure friendly and easy to understand advice!

When not crunching numbers, Donna can be found crunching weights, enjoying a good glass of wine that has been paired with good company and a roaring campfire, travelling or reading.  She has been known to endure crazy weather a time or two riding in the MS Bike Tour (Leduc to Camrose). Currently, she is the Treasurer of Treasure Life, a pediatric cardiac research foundation.

Darcy brings 10+ years as an accountant working with owner managed businesses, within various industries. His interests include hockey and golf, and he is a father to two young ones.

Donna received her CA designation in 2007 and has been in the world of Accounting ever since! She is married with 2 sons and her family loves to keep her busy outside of the office! On top of her husband and kids, she also has 2 cats and a dog! Talk about a full house!

Frank is manager here at HGA and values time spent with clients improving their files, building their business, and getting to know them on a personal level. When he isn’t busy at work at the office, you can find him visiting with his grand children and probably listening to Summer of ’69!

Shannon achieved her CPA designation during her time with HGA, where she has become an integral part of the team. Known for her commitment to both her clients and her colleagues, Shannon is valued for her approachable, down-to-earth nature that instantly puts people at ease. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and especially looks forward to summers at Pigeon Lake. Her ability to build strong relationships, paired with her genuine and warm personality, makes her a trusted and reliable partner to everyone she works with.

Katrine is an organizational force to be reckoned with! That’s why we love her. Katrine’s analytical & detailed approach to accounting makes her an asset to any file that she gets her hands on. Not only does she ensure that the details are correct, but she takes the time and care to make her clients feel welcome and part of the HGA family. In her spare time, Katrine loves spending time her time with her family, cooking and baking, going for walks, and practicing yoga.

As one of our Senior Designated Accountants, Margie is devoted to client relationships and file accuracy. Her quiet nature and detailed approach to accounting makes her a perfect fit with the HGA team and the entire HGA process.  When she’s not busy in the office, Margie loves to spend time with her family, including her husband Nathaniel and daughter Eleanor. She also devotes time to pursuing her hobbies: painting and reading.

Sheena graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004, and received her CA designation in 2008.  Her 2 kids keep her busy out of the office.  However, when she does find time for herself, you will find her on the volleyball court (in the winter), in the backyard (in the summer), or in the garage arts-and-crafting and pretending she knows how to use her significant other’s power tools (usually against his wishes).

Gerard joined the HGA Tax team in 2022 after articling at another firm in Edmonton. Receiving his CPA, CGA designation in 2016, Gerard has extensive experience in helping business owners understand their tax and accounting needs. Gerard has expanded his skillset further by enrolling in CPA Canada’s In Depth Corporate Tax Course and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation. Gerard is focused on ensuring our clients business and personal interests are structured efficiently from a tax perspective so they can focus on running their businesses. When he’s not in the office, reading court cases or reviewing CRA publications, you can find Gerard in the city at an Oilers or Elks game, spending time with family and friends, or planning his next trip!

Earning her CPA, CA in 2014, Jennifer has always worked in public practice and has a passion for helping her clients improve.  In her free time, Jennifer enjoys pursuing hobbies such as knitting and baking, as well as spending time with her loved ones, including her two cats

Jason began his accounting journey with HGA and earned his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2025. He enjoys gaining hands-on experience and working closely with clients and colleagues.

When he’s not buried in numbers, Jason enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and settling in for a good movie or TV show. He has a strong love for travel, particularly trips to the mountains, Mexico and time spent hiking. Jason also loves food, both cooking and eating it.

Damian graduated from MacEwan University with a Bachelor of Commerce and is currently enrolled in the CPA PEP program working toward his CPA designation. Before joining us at HGA, Damian was a certified lifeguard and swim instructor and his athletic endeavours go beyond the pool to mountain biking, snowboarding, and competitive soccer. He’s the proud owner of two dogs, and when he’s not relaxing with them or playing sports, Damian spends his time with his friends and family!

Holden is a Graduate of University of Alberta School of Business student with a passion for numbers. with a major in Accounting, Holden will be entering the CPA PEP program May 2024.

But life isn’t all about numbers for him. They’re a sports fanatic, loving basketball, football, and hockey. In the winter, you’ll catch them on the ice, and come summer, they’re swinging clubs on the golf course. They’re also a foodie, always up for trying the latest Edmonton eats. During his downtime, he hangs out with his furry friend, Winston, an Australian Shepherd who keeps life fun and playful.

Having worked in the food and service industry for over 18 years, Gladilyn is excited to join HGA, embracing it as her first accounting job, and she will finally be achieving her way to get a CPA designation. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce with an Accounting major from MacEwan University, but beforehand, she had also attained a Finance and Management Accounting degree in the Philippines. However, she did not get to practice her studies years back as most of her experience was taken on various management roles in the quick-service restaurant sector. Nevertheless, accounting ultimately found its way again, thus she decided to return to school for the second time. With this goal in mind, she is much eager to embrace this transition!

At the end of the day, Gladilyn looks forward to spending valuable time with her family. But if she indeed finds herself some “Me” time, she will most likely binge-watch movies on Netflix, sing karaoke, or eat ice cream or any dessert for that matter!

Noah is a co-op student studying business and accounting at the University of Alberta, and plans on getting his CPA in the future! In his free time you can find him watching the Oilers or playing a round of golf!

Darien is a recent NAIT graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration, specializing in accounting, and is currently working toward his CPA designation. He is passionate about accuracy, efficiency, and continuously improving processes. Outside the office, you’ll find Darien exploring new restaurants or cooking up something in the kitchen!

Catherine is currently a Bachelor of Business Administration student with an emphasis on Accounting at NAIT, and has joined HGA as a bookkeeper to gain real-world experience while helping our clients better understand their financials and find a path to growth. She’s an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying time spent camping and hiking with her husband, kids, and her dog. When the snow comes, Catherine likes to grab a big blanket, a tall glass of wine, and settling down to watch an Oilers game.

Garrett is a MacEwan University graduate with distinction in accounting and is beginning his journey toward his CPA designation at HGA. Numbers and accuracy have always come naturally to him, making accounting a perfect fit.

Outside of the office, Garrett is an avid reader of classical history and is always open to a good book recommendation. He also enjoys getting out of the house, whether that’s spending time with friends and family or exploring new opportunities.  

Alex joined the HGA tax team in 2025 after articling with the federal government. Prior to joining, Alex received his CPA designation and completed the CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program. When off the clock, Alex enjoys video games, watching the Oilers, and trying to the right cup of coffee in cafes around town!

Shelayna brings a background in bookkeeping and private accounting to HGA. She is currently enrolled in the CPA program and is on track to complete her studies in Winter 2027. With a strong foundation in day-to-day accounting operations, she brings both practical experience and a commitment to continued professional growth. Outside of work, Shelayna enjoys reading and spending time with her dog, Atlas, and her cat, Admiral.

Before joining us, Nancy-Lynn’s bookkeeping experience was extensive in both industry and private practice, making her a great asset to our team! When she’s not at work, she loves to spend time with her husband, children and her grandchildren in the outdoors, camping and quading.

Rebecca has been in the Accounts Receivable world for six years, where she specialized in the accounting industry. Originally hailing from Calgary, but the incredible beauty of Edmonton lured here away from the mountains more than seven years ago. Her attention to detail and ability to keep everything organized make her an awesome asset to our team. She’s a mother to a seven-year-old and a sheltie named Kipper, and when she’s not at work she’s spending time with her family, friends, and getting out travelling whenever possible.

Warren is a Senior Manager in Integrated Financial Services, providing financial analysis, reporting, and advisory support to privately owned businesses. He helps owners and management teams make informed decisions around growth, profitability, and risk through clear, decision-useful financial insight.

Outside of his professional work, Warren is an avid live music fan.

Rob brings over 25 years of experience in CFO, Advisory, Business Valuation and Litigation Support roles. He has advised on business start-ups, restructurings, growth financing, M&A, contract negotiations, forbearance proceedings, amongst many other special projects. He has prepared formal Business Valuation Reports in support of tax matters (reorganizations, estate freezes, death of shareholders), shareholder and matrimonial disputes, and in support of M&A activity. He has prepared Expert Reports in support of financial litigation matters (loss quantification in cases of dissipation of assets, shareholder disputes, breach of contract, personal injury, and expropriation), and has been qualified as an Expert in the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench (2021 ABQB 62). Outside of work, Rob can generally be found at kart racing tracks both locally and around the world, whether with the Edmonton and District Kart Racing Association, serving as a coach and mechanic at major international karting events throughout North America and Europe, or representing Team Canada as a driver, where he finished 22nd in the world at the 2021 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Bahrain.

Cathy Pham brings 17 years of accounting experience, with 11 years in property management, real estate brokerage, and asset management. Skilled in overseeing financial operations and reporting for both non-profit and investor-operated companies, Cathy is known for her strategic insight and commitment to optimizing resources. Her strong analytical skills and collaborative approach make her an invaluable asset in achieving financial goals and enhancing operational efficiency.

Before she moved to Canada, Kinday received her Bachelor of Art in her native India, but as soon as she got here it was all about accounting. She spent six years as an accountant for a restaurant franchise and enrolled in the CPA program in 2018. She passed the CFE in 2021 before joining our team at the beginning of 2022. When she gets some spare time, Kinday loves to play, cook, and dance with her two daughters.

He has a decade of banking experience in one of the top 3 largest bank in the Philippines. He was a Relationship Manager in the Commercial Lending Group for 6 years focused on business loans and cash management solutions. Fun stuff about this guy – he loves playing billiards and basketball

Carol hails from the Philippines but has spent most of her life working abroad. Much of her early career was in the hospitality and restaurant industries, but in 2021 she passed her Accounting and Payroll Diploma and is ready to bring her expertise to our clients. She’s a well-versed traveler who loves to meet new people and experience nature. When she’s at home, Carol likes to watch documentaries and movies, cooking, and of course spending time with her six-year-old daughter.

Tetiana has had a lifelong passion for numbers. Starting back in her childhood in Ukraine, Tetiana was raised around balance sheets by her father and mother— both accountants. She eventually graduated from the University of Ukraine with a Master’s Degree before moving to Canada. In 2017, she enrolled in NAIT’s Office Accounting Systems Certificate, and now she is a valued member of our Integrated Financial Services team! Her experience working as a tax accountant for the Ukrainian State tax inspectorate and her work as a bookkeeper give her the adaptability so necessary for the entrepreneurial environment at HGA.

In her spare time, Tetiana is an avid cook and likes to spend time with her husband and children enjoying the outdoors.

Iryna is an accomplished accountant with 25 years of experience, including ten years in Canadian public practice. She specializes in bookkeeping, ensuring accurate financial records, and managing personal and corporate tax matters. Outside work, Iryna cherishes time with her family and enjoys nature. Her hobbies include gardening, walking, cycling, and exploring new places.

At HGA IFS, Kateryna combines her finance experience with a commitment to supporting clients with confidence and care. She previously worked in the cruise industry within the finance department, traveling around the world while managing and counting funds. After her time at sea, she transitioned into bookkeeping in Edmonton, where she applies her strong financial skills and attention to detail. Outside of work, Kateryna has a passion for adventure. She enjoys hiking and seeks out adrenaline-filled activities such as parachuting, bungee jumping, and other thrilling experiences.

Charlene has built a strong foundation in diverse skills, teamwork and efficiency through her experience in both large corporations and small businesses. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren and taking long walks with her goldendoodle, Lyla.

Denise is the Manager of Administration here in the office and has been in the accounting world for more years than she cares to remember! When she’s not assisting the team in the office, she can be found reading, listening to podcasts, watching TV and movies, sewing, or enjoying the many summer and winter festivals Edmonton has to offer.

Savanna is a senior administrator with more than a decade of experience working in professional services. She joined HGA in January 2019 as an administrative assistant and quickly moved into an executive assistant role supporting HGA’s managing partner, Shawn Tully, before landing in her current position as senior administrator. Savanna takes pride in providing high caliber administrative and operational support to our CPA division. Her organizational prowess and ability to identify opportunities for improvement help her ensure the effectiveness of our firm’s people and processes. In her free time, Savanna enjoys bodybuilding, dancing, curling up with a good book, and planning her next tropical vacation.

As the Executive Assistant to the leadership team, Amanda keeps the behind‑the‑scenes operations running smoothly and on schedule. Amanda has been with HGA for over 5 years, and her background in the arts – from stage management to vocal performance – taught her how to juggle moving parts, anticipate needs, and keep the show running without anyone noticing the backstage hustle. When she’s off the clock, you’ll usually find Amanda golfing, playing pickleball, or at the dog park with her husband and their Labrador, Norman, who is fully convinced he’s the one in charge.

Erin is an Administrator here at HGA, supporting the team with organization and care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her cockapoo and getting lost in a good book.

Lindsay brings over 15 years of experience in HR and administration to her hybrid role as Executive Assistant and HR Coordinator at HGA.

Outside of work, Lindsay is an avid crafter and sewer and can often be found at the rink cheering on her two boys at hockey. When she’s not rink-side, she’s likely on the slopes, on the pickleball court, or adding to her ever-growing collection as a proud gnome enthusiast.

Allie is a recent graduate who is currently working toward her Master’s Degree in Psychology. She brings a wealth of experience ranging from supervising in retail to administrative work with the federal government. Allie’s love of being organized is one of the many things that make her a great fit here at HGA. When she’s not at the office, you can find her binge watching her favourite series. Allie also has a passion for dance and danced competitively for 15 years!

Kassie considers herself a “jack of all trades” administrator, spending the majority of her career in the oilsands and construction industry. She loves the career path she’s chosen, as it has given her the ability to meet numerous people from all walks of life. When not burying herself in a good spreadsheet, Kassie loves a good book and cup of tea. She enjoys visiting all the local markets around Edmonton, visiting cafes and bakeries, cooking, baking, and challenging her husband to boardgames (which he usual wins). She has two adorable cats, Kali and Ellie, that she adopted from a local rescue. They keep her life full of joy and cat hair. Something many people are surprised to know is that Kassie comes from a family of backyard car mechanics and she enjoys a good car show in the summertime.
